COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus women's volleyball team found itself ahead by a solid margin in two of three sets against Rutgers-Camden.

Unfortunately for the Bears, they were unable to hold on to those advantages, falling to the Scarlet Raptors, 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-22), on Tuesday night.

The Bears (1-1) led early in the second set with a 9-3 edge, but 10 straight points from the Scarlet Raptors gave them an upper hand they didn't relinquish in the set.

It was the same case in the third set, when Ursinus led 17-11 before Rutgers-Camden (3-2) went on its nine-point run to take command for good.

Sophomores Lydia Pierce and Kelly Piotrowicz led the Bears' strong effort in each set. Pierce tallied a career-high seven kills to pace the Bears and also topped the team in hitting percentage (.267). Pierce had several powerful finishes at the center of the net, from which most of her kills came. Her previous career-high in kills (4) came last season against Penn State-Berks (9/29/16).

Piotrowicz recorded the contest's only double-double, putting up 17 assists and 10 digs. She's now 2-for-2 on the season as far as double-doubles go, having contributed 27 assists and 14 digs in the season-opening win against Albright last week.

Junior libero Sydney Gonzalez led several of the Bears' pushes. She had three points off her services in the second set – including one of her three aces. Gonzalez also had eight digs.

Senior Allison Raff finished with a team-high 13 digs.

In the end, it was all about finishing points for the Bears. Their hitting percentage on the match was -0.50, with just two players in the positive.

Cortnee Wilkerson powered the Scarlet Raptors offense with a match-high 11 kills, while a pair of Rutgers-Camden players (Jamie Mulligan, Natalie DiGiacomo) had double-digit digs.

The Bears travel to Washington D.C. on Friday for the Catholic University Tournament where they'll face Salisbury (2:00 p.m.) and Albright (6:00 p.m.) on Friday, and Catholic and Wesley on Saturday.
