Volleyball closes season against Muhlenberg

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College volleyball team closed out its 2015 season with a 3-1 loss to Muhlenberg on Wednesday night in a match that had all different elements.

The elements outside played a part in the match, as the warm weather forced the match to be moved from the Helfferich Hall gymnasium into the Floy Lewis Bakes Fieldhouse as the floor was a bit too slippery.

With Muhlenberg leading 15-11, the officials decided to move the match down to the fieldhouse. Ursinus staffers worked quickly to set up the floor in less than 15 minutes.

Leading 2-0, Muhlenberg saw Ursinus win set number three by a score of 25-21. Muhlenberg would rally in the fourth set to win 25-21. The Mules (17-9, 6-4 Centennial) won the first two sets 25-16.

For Ursinus, senior Karla Thiele finished her last match with 15 kills on 38 total attempts (.316 hitting percentage), while sophomore Allison Raff had 12 kills. Sophomore Jackie Jordan netting five kills.

Junior Emily van Mulbregt had 33 assists on the night, with Thiele getting three service aces.

Defensively, Thiele had 19 digs, Raff had 16 and fellow senior Kathryn Yoo had ten. Raff also had two blocks for Ursinus.
