Volleyball opens Centennial play

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Opening up Centennial Conference play on Saturday, the Ursinus College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Gettysburg at the start of a tri-match.

In the second match, Ursinus (5-7) fell to Hood by a 3-0 score.

In the Gettysburg match, Ursinus lost by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-10 to the Bullets (8-5).

Leading the way for Ursinus against Gettysburg was sophomore outside hitter Allison Raff (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) with 11 kills, while senior outside hitter Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins Senior) with seven. Junior setter Emily van Mulbregt (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) had ten assists with freshman setter Cori Cichowicz (King of Prussia, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame De Namur) netting nine.

Thiele, defensively, had 18 digs with freshman libero Sydney Gonzalez (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) having eight.

Against Hood, Ursinus lost by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-13. Raff had a team high nine kills, with freshman outside hitter Grace LaDelfa (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) getting seven.

Van Mulbregt had 16 assists, with Cichowicz netting eight. Senoir defensive specialist Kathryn Yoo had three service aces.

Defensively, Raff had nine digs.

Ursinus hosts PSU-Berks on Wednesday.
