Women's Indoor Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's Track and Field team will begin its indoor season this Friday when the Bears host the Bow Tie Invitational. Prior to the beginning of the indoor season, the Centennial Conference released its preseason poll with the Bears coming in fifth.

Leading the way was nine-time defending champion Johns Hopkins (81) who received nine of ten first-place votes with Dickinson (67) in second – also with a first-place vote. Trailing the Red Devils by just two points is Swarthmore (65) and then Haverford (57) and Ursinus (55) rounded out the top-5.

The Ursinus women finished fifth for a second-consecutive season last February and it is where they are picked to start the 2019-20 campaign. The Bears finished just 15 points out of the top-3 last season after strong performances from the 4x400 relay team that finished second and 4x200 that took home gold.

Sisters, Michela and Rachel Coleman who led the 4x200 team at the Conference Championships last season will return for the Bears, as well as junior Gianna Speranza who was a breakout star during last year's indoor season.

The Bears will begin their season on Friday when they host the Bow Tie Invitational.
