LANCASTER, Pa. – Five Centennial Conference-leading marks and a new school record made for a sensational indoor debut for the Ursinus College track and field teams at the Diplomat Open on Saturday.

Senior Adam Myers finished runner-up in the shot put, uncorking a heave of 49 feet, 3 inches that currently ranks ninth in Division III after the opening weekend of competition. It was just 1.5 inches off his personal record, which earned him the silver medal at last year's CC indoor championship. Freshman Griffin McMann (39-7) and sophomore Carlo Telesco (38-1.5) were 14^th and 17^th, respectively.

Freshman Mike Knudson made his collegiate debut a memorable one, establishing a new program record with a 40-2.25 in the weight throw.

Sophomore Andre Kelly matched Myers with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash, clocking a 51.78 to grab the top spot on the conference performance list.

Sophomores Codi Yhap (23.69, 7^th) and Austin Bittenbender (23.70, 8^th) are ranked first and second, respectively, in the Centennial Conference in the 200-meter dash following top-10 performances, while senior Jequan Mitchell (24.10) placed 13^th. Mitchell also nabbed 15^th in the 60-meter dash (7.32).

Yhap landed in 10^th overall with a 40-0.5 in his triple jump debut, while Bittenbender was 14^th (19-11) in the long jump.

Bittenbender, Yhap, Andre Kelly, and senior Mitchell Kelly were sixth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:37.26). Mitchell Kelly led the Bears' contingent with a 12^th-place showing in the 800 (2:07.29).

Sophomore John Haase marked a 4:39.17 to place fourth in the mile, winning his group and nabbing top billing in the CC. Freshman Kyle Berardi (4:48.76) finished just off a CC-qualifying standard in his track debut, and senior Joseph Iuliucci (4:52.69) was just a few seconds behind.

On the women's side, senior Katherine Damato, freshman Michaela Coleman, senior Catherine Buczek, and sophomore Catherine Curran finished runner-up only to Division II Millersville in the 4x400-meter relay, posting a time of 4:15.14 to beat out previous CC champion Franklin & Marshall by just over a half-second. The group's clocking currently sits 14^th in the nation.

Michaela Coleman and twin sister Rachel Coleman impressed in their collegiate sprinting debuts. Rachel was ninth in the 200 with a 27.74, with Michaela right behind at 27.98.

Sophomore Kira Miller marked a new P.R. in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 12^th with a time of 9.97. Buczek took 21^st in 10.31.

Junior Caroline Buckley was tremendous in the opener, notching a pair of personal bests in the jumping events. Her 33-8.75 (5^th place) in the triple jump was an indoor best and leads the CC, while the 15-7.5 in the long jump was a college P.R. and good for 11^th overall.

The long jump was one of the Bears' best events of the day, with freshman Neve Durrwatcher taking 13^th (15-5) and fellow rookie Kateryna Swan placing 16^th (15-3.25). Durrwatcher's standard matched her personal record from high school.

Swan also finished 16^th in the high jump (4-7.00), with Damato recording the same mark.

The track and field teams return to action when the Bears host the annual Collegeville Classic on Saturday, January 20.
