LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team opened its spring campaign with a 7-2 victory over Arcadia in a non-conference match that ended just shy of midnight at Green Valley Country Club.

Freshmen Maddie Russell and Brenna Trkula joined sophomore Madisen Harvey as double winners for the Bears (1-1), who swept the doubles courts on the way to their first win of the season.

Trkula teamed with junior Caitlyn Sorelle for an 8-2 victory at number one doubles for Ursinus, while Russell partnered with former Ches-Mont League rival Cara Freedman for an 8-5 result at number two. Harvey was matched with freshman Jessica Leach at third doubles, which finished in an 8-5 decision in favor of the Bears.

Russell was dominant at number two singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 double bagel. Trkula was right on her heels, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 final on the third court.
