Leonard and Lear Earn Gold on Day Two

LANCASTER, PA. - The Ursinus College Women's Swimming team enjoyed a successful day two of the Centennial Conference tournament. Two Bear swimmers carved their names into the Ursinus College record books with top times.  

Sophomore Melissa Leonard became the first ever Bears Swimmer to win the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:03.36. Leonard now currently ranks 2nd All-Time in the Bears record book. Swimming In the B-Final first-year Katie Barlow earned a second-place finish with a time of 5:15.97. 

Teammate Sophie Lear became the first female to ever win the 200 IM and 50 Free in conference history. Lear also shattered the conference and school record in the 50 free with a time of 23.35. Lear's first gold medal of the evening came in the 200 IM after touching the wall with a time of 2:06.64. Junior Abigail Ferguson earned a 6th place finish in the 200IM and her career best time of 2:10.50. 

Senior Liv Rachael earned a fourth-place finish in the 50 free, recording her personal best time of 24.26.  

The Bears earned a bronze medal finish in the 400 Medley Relay with a third-place finish. The quartet of Molly Stevens, Lear, Rachael, and Leonard finished with a time of 3:53.71.  

The Bears will dive back into the pool tomorrow morning and will look to gain positioning over the rest of the group. Tomorrow's events are listed in order below.
