Wrestling Handles Alvernia in Dual Finale

READING, Pa. – The Ursinus College wrestling team capped its dual-match season with a 34-12 victory at Alvernia on Wednesday night.

The Bears won eight of ten bouts, five of them with bonus points, to finish 9-3 on the season.

Romeo Rodriguez grabbed a 14-4 major decision over Austin Rush at 125, and Kyle Seibert rolled past Alexander Gorlin, 18-0, at 133.

Brandon Miller (7-2), Jake Folk (6-1), and Jason Zollers (5-1) followed with decisions.

Alex Koenig pinned Caleb Fisher early in the second period of their 174-pound tussle for his first victory of the season.

Malcolm Hunt moved into a tie for second on the team with his ninth pin of the year, dropping Tonee Ellis in the second period at 197.

"Great job tonight by the guys," coach Joe Jamison said. "We were workman-like in our performance, fighting and clawing for every point. We mixed up our lineup tonight to give some guys a rest before regionals, and those who competed seized the opportunity."

The Bears will send 10 wrestlers to Muhlenberg for the Mideast Futures Tournament on Sunday.
