Wrestling Dethrones King's

READING, Pa. – The Ursinus College wrestling team piled up four pins and a pair of technical falls in cruising to a 43-6 victory over King's (Pa.) in a non-conference dual at Alvernia.

Terry Adams was not one of the four Bears to record a fall on Saturday evening, but the rookie had enough to pass a tough test from Gustav Petruske. With a 13-8 decision at 125, Adams improved to a perfect 9-0 on the season.

Kyle Seibert seized the team lead with his fifth pin, dropping Liam Farrell in 2:13 at 133.

After the Monarchs got on the board with a close decision at 141, Shawn Marchesano upped his individual mark to 8-1 by pinning Colby Spencer in 2:32. Alfred Corradetti followed with a pin of his own, needing one more second to defeat Javier Gonzales at 157. Both of Corradetti's bout victories have come via fall.

King's made it 21-6 with another decision at 165 but had to forfeit the 174-pound bout to Gary Nagle.

The Bears dominated the final three weight classes. Kyle Schaffer notched his fourth pin of the year against Isaac Mensah at 184 before Ursinus closed with back-to-back tech falls. Jason Carter finished off his opponent by a 17-0 count with 11 seconds remaining in the second period at 197, and Ben Maack took the heavyweight clash by a score of 15-0 about midway through the second period.

"The team wrestled well today; we went in there and took care of business," head coach Joe Jamison said. "We'll have a light, we'll-deserved recovery week next week and then will get ready for the New Standard Invitational at York. It's a tough tournament that'll be a good measuring stick for the team. We're excited to see what we can do."
