McGinley Takes 6th at York

YORK, Pa. – Senior William McGinley earned a sixth-place finish to highlight the Ursinus College wrestling team's second and final day at the New Standard Invitational hosted by York (Pa.).

The Bears finished with 44 team points, good for 11th in a 16-team field.

McGinley began his morning in the heavyweight quarterfinals, where he dropped a 12-1 major decision to Merchant Marine's Blake Bunce. That dropped McGinley into the consolation, where edged Apprentice's Ross Graham, 4-2, and scored a late takedown to defeat Oscar Daniels of Delaware Valley, 12-9. With a place firmly secured, McGinley lost his next two bouts to settle for sixth.

Freshman Collin Wickramaratna lost to Roger Williams' Kyle Kaiser in the quarterfinals at 125 pounds, but recovered nicely to handle Baldwin Wallace's Nicholas Barry, 14-2, before succumbing in sudden victory to Apprentice's Colton Messick.

Senior Derek Gulotta made a run through the 133-pound consolations, cruising past Ithaca's Dylan Earl (9-4) and pinning Apprentice's Kolin Johnson just before the final buzzer. Gulotta was pinned by Baldwin Wallace's Dante Ginnetti in the consolation semifinals.

Seniors Jarret DiGiantomasso (165) and Anthony Cutrufello (174) each had a pin in their respective consolation brackets.

The Bears head to Temple for a dual match next Saturday.
