Four named to D3Wrestle.com rankings

Four Ursinus College wrestlers were named to the D3Wrestle.com 2010-2011 preliminary rankings on Monday afternoon.

Senior Nate Murren (Littlestown, Pa./Littlestown) was ranked seventh at the 184 pound weight class, while junior Connor McNamara (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) was ranked eighth at 197 pounds.

Junior Connor McCormick (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) was named a contender at 149 pounds, while senior Ed Minelli (Hull, Mass./Xavierian Brothers) was honorable mention at 285 pounds.

""I 'm very excited that these four young men are being recognized in the D-3 rankings," said head coach Bill Racich. "This helps to enhance our overall wrestling program."

Three of the four will be defending Centennial Conference champions, as Murren, McNamara and McCormick each won their respective weight classes and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships. Minelli finished in fourth place at Centennial Championships in the always competitive heavyweight bracket.

Murren finished last season with a record of 25-3, while McCormick was 20-3.

McNamara, who was also named the Centennial Conference co-outstanding wrestler of the tournament, finished last season ranked third in the Centennial Conference in wins with 29. He finished with an overall record of 29-5.

Minelli was 16-13 last season for Ursinus, who opens up the 2010-11 season at Messiah on Saturday, November 6.
