Women's Lacrosse Falls to No. 1 F&M

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's lacrosse team fell into an early hole and was unable to keep up with top-ranked Franklin & Marshall in a 24-2 Centennial Conference setback.

The Diplomats (5-0, 3-0) found the back of the cage three times in the first two minutes and never looked back, opening up an 11-0 lead just past the midway point of the first half.

Hannah Reape got the Bears on the board at the 11:29 mark of the first half, slicing through traffic on a free-position restart and finishing through contact for her first goal of the season. Ketlee Staz added one of her own with 4:18 to play in the opening frame, after which the visitors held a 15-2 advantage.

Franklin & Marshall tacked on nine more goals in the second half for the final margin.

Becca Lewis led Ursinus with a career-high five draw controls, giving her nine in the last two contests. She added two ground balls to match Alyssa Penny and Alexa Machado for the team lead.

Machado finished with nine saves, falling below double digits for the first time this season.

Maddy Birch had three goals and four assists for the Diplomats, while Marissa McGarrey, Tabitha Rodriguez, and Sydney Lowe all netted hat tricks. Gillian Brennan handed out four assists.

The Bears wrap up their season next Saturday at McDaniel.
