COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Katie Hagan Duffie is stepping down from her post as Ursinus College women's lacrosse head coach.

Hagan Duffie, who spent the last nine seasons at the helm, has accepted the role of assistant athletic director at Episcopal Academy.

"Ursinus and the amazing women I have coached over the past nine seasons have had a profound impact on my life," Hagan Duffie said. "We've had so many amazing families come through our program who have made this journey so much fun. I couldn't have asked for a better AD than Laura Moliken, and I will forever be grateful for her mentorship and friendship. She took a chance on me and has played an integral part in inspiring me to take this next step in athletic administration. I look forward to becoming the biggest fan of the Ursinus women's lacrosse program for many years to come. They are on the verge of something special."

A former Centennial Conference player of the year and All-American at Gettysburg, Hagan Duffie came to Collegeville in 2012, taking over for current associate athletic director Erin Stroble. She guided Ursinus to the CC playoffs in her first season, when the Bears earned the No. 4 seed and dropped an 11-10 heartbreaker to Swarthmore in the opening round. Ursinus missed the postseason by a single game in 2016 and 2017.

Hagan Duffie coached a dozen All-Centennial performers during her tenure, including all-region selections Lisa Grous, Margaret Philbin, Bridget Sherry, Alyssa Thren, and current assistant Kitty Dawson. She also hosted lacrosse and girls leadership camps in the summer and was actively involved in the Snell-Shillingford Coaching Symposium.  

"I wholeheartedly support her move, but at the same time will greatly miss her on Coaches' Row," Moliken said. "She has been a constant positive presence in our hallway for almost a decade. Her optimism, integrity, work ethic, and passion for all things Ursinus will leave a void.
