CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Ursinus College women's lacrosse team picked up its first road victory of the season in thoroughly impressive fashion Wednesday night, dominating Washington College, 16-8, behind a career night from senior Amy Kohout.

Kohout went wild, scoring a career-high five goals and dishing out two assiss to power the Bears (5-5, 2-1) to their first win in Chestertown since 2008 and help snap a five-year drought against the Shorewomen (6-4, 1-2).

The 16 goals were the most for Ursinus in a conference game since an 18-3 rout at Bryn Mawr in 2013.

Sophomores Emily DiGiorgio and Bridget Sherry supplemented Kohout's monster effort with three goals of their own. Senior Lindsey Grabell collected two goals and an assist, and sophomore Franny Liberatoscioli distributed a career-best two assists.

The teams were tied at 2 after Katherine Vincent's goal at the 19:31 mark of the first half, but Kohout finished a feed from Grabell just 29 seconds later and the Bears were off and running. Liberatoscioli, DiGiorgio, and Grabell found the back of the net before Kohout bookended the five-goal run with her second of the day to stretch the lead out to 7-2 with 6:38 remaining in the frame. Sherry and Washington College's Kristy Grovom traded tallies as the Bears went into halftime armed with an 8-4 edge.

The Shorewomen sandwiched two goals around one by Kohout to close within 9-6 at the 19:01 mark, Liberatoscioli set up DiGiorgio to ignite a second stretch of five unanswered strikes that put the game away for good. Senior Lisa Grous hooked up with Grabell for a classmate connection during the spurt, which sophomore Kaci McNeave capped with 9:39 to go on an assist from Kohout.

Sherry put a bow on a rare win in Maryland by polishing off her first career hat trick with just one second remaining.

Ursinus outshot the Shorewomen, 34-23, and took advantage of a 17-10 disparity in turnovers as Grous forced three Washington College miscues. McNeave, who had a goal and an assist, grabbed four ground balls in addition to two caused turnovers. Grous was effective on the draw, racking up a game-high five controls; Liberatoscioli had three, and Kohout tacked on three grounders and two draws to her stat line.

Shaw, Docktor, and Vincent each tallied two goals for Washington College.

Sophomore Kaitlyn France picked up seven saves, five of them coming in the second half.

The Bears shoot for a third straight win when they entertain McDaniel in a CC contest on Saturday, April 8.
