McGarrigle Second After Day 1 of CC Championship

LANCASTER, Pa. – Emily McGarrigle put herself in position to challenge for an individual championship with a strong first round at the Centennial Conference women's golf championship.

McGarrigle carded an 83 at Conestoga Country Club, the same track where she finished runner-up a year ago for the highest conference tournament placement in program history. The Bears ended the day in fifth place with a team tally of 416, well ahead of Franklin & Marshall and McDaniel in a tie for sixth (455) and Neumann in eighth (583).

McGarrigle birdied both the par-four 8th hole and the par-three 15th at the Lancaster-based course, mixing in seven pars on the afternoon. She finds herself tied with Muhlenberg's Aine Filler and Gettysburg's Hannah Fireman, all three shots off the pace set by Gettysburg's Skylar Frankiewicz.

Freshman Jessica Lamarca shot a 103 in her first taste of championship golf. She made seven bogeys and a par on the 7th hole to finish the day in 20th place.

Sophomore Addisen Miller carded three bogeys en route to a 111, while rookie Carolyn DeCicco had two in a round of 119. Junior Alissa DiGuglielmo finished with a 160.

The Bears conclude the two-day tournament on Sunday, when McGarrigle will take aim at the first individual conference title in school history.
