McGarrigle Ties for First at Muhlenberg Invitational

McGarrigle Ties for First at Muhlenberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Emily McGarrigle continued a long run of personal success at Lehigh Country Club on Monday, tying for individual medalist honors to lead the Ursinus College women's golf team at the Muhlenberg Invitational.

McGarrigle and Muhlenberg's Kat Hodges found themselves tied atop the leaderboard with matching rounds of 84 at the Allentown track, one stroke clear of another Mule – Aine Filler – with an 85. The deadlock was broken by back nine score, which handed the trophy to Hodges, who outperformed McGarrigle by two strokes on holes 10-18.

Drew captured the team title with a score of 363 in a tight tournament with two other challengers in Dickinson (367) and Muhlenberg (368). Cabrini (417) was fourth, followed by Hood (465), Ursinus (503), and Neumann (564).

Though she was denied a first career crown at Lehigh Country Club, McGarrigle has always been in the mix at this tournament. She has finished runner-up in each of the last three seasons, losing by one stroke to Filler a year ago, and led the Bears with a sixth-place effort as a rookie.

McGarrigle logged seven pars for the day, registering 40 strokes on the front nine and 44 on the back; Hodges shot 42 on each set of nine.

Sophomore Addisen Miller carded a 127 for the Bears, with freshman Carolyn DeCicco shooting 132 and junior Suzanne Angermeier finishing with a 160.

The Bears get right back to the links on Tuesday, when they host their annual spring invitational at Stonewall.
