Women's Golf Fifth at Millersville Invite

QUARRYVILLE, Pa. – Competing in the middle round of a stretch of three tournaments in as many days, the Ursinus College women's golf team placed fifth at the Millersville Invitational on Sunday.

The Bears notched a team tally of 396 to finish just two strokes behind Centennial Conference rival Dickinson at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club. West Chester claimed the team title with a 333, followed by the host Marauders (357), East Stroudsburg (368), Dickinson (394), Ursinus (396), Alvernia (404), and Franklin & Marshall (434).

Junior Sarah Thompson tied her previous collegiate best with a 92 at Saturday's Gettysburg Invitational and eclipsed it the next day with a 90 that put her in a tie with sophomore Rebecca Chiger for eighth overall. Sophomore Emily McGarrigle tied for 13th with a 92.

Junior Shelby Bryant carded a 124, five strokes better than her Saturday score and four off her season low.

The women's golf team concludes its busy stretch when it attempts to defend its title at the Muhlenberg Invitational, set for 12:30 p.m. at Lehigh Country Club.
