Women's Basketball Picked Fourth in Preseason Poll

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's basketball team was picked fourth in the Centennial Conference preseason poll that was released Thursday. The Bears earned 151 points in the poll which trailed Gettysburg (184), Haverford (165), and Johns Hopkins (162). They were also one of five teams to receive a first-place vote.

The Bears will look to build off of a strong 2018-19 season in which they earned their first playoff win in 12 seasons. Behind a strong performance on both ends of the floor from Lydia Konstanzer, the Bears took down Muhlenberg, 74-51, to advance to the semifinals.

Head coach Margaret White enters her fourth season with the Bears and returns all five of its starters from last season. That includes Konstanzer who was just the seventh first-team All-Centennial selection in program history. She led the Centennial Conference with 13 double-doubles and total rebounds while also ranking inside the top five in total steals (57), field goals (160), and points (408).

Also earning All-Centennial honors last season was Aliyah Stephens. Stephens was the Bears' top on-ball defender and ranked third in the Centennial Conference in blocks (39) and fourth in steals (50).

Following their first playoff win in over a decade, expectations are high for the Bears who ranked third in the conference in points scored while also allowing the third-fewest points.

The Bears begin their season next Friday against Albright in Helferich Hall. They'll begin Centennial Conference play on November 21, when they host Washington College.
