READING, Pa. – The Ursinus women's basketball team was on the seesaw with Albright all the way up to the end, but unfortunately some last-second shots did not fall as the Lions took the non-conference tilt, 48-46.

Ursinus (6-4) had its four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Lions, who protected their home turf in the final contest of 2018. The Bears had chances to either tie or win the game in crunch time, but came up short.

Sophomore Marisa Morano dribbled into the paint from the wing for a potential game-tying layup, but her contested shot with four seconds remaining rolled excruciatingly around the cylinder but refused to drop.

The Bears, however, retained possession after the loose ball was last touched by Albright. After a timeout, Ursinus had another opportunity with a couple ticks left. The inbounds pass from the corner was thrown toward half court, where sophomore Maya Kornfeld gathered it in before she launched a deep ball that came up well short at the buzzer.

With 2:53 remaining, the Bears found themselves down 47-40. It was the largest margin of the game by either team but Ursinus battled back to make it interesting. The Bears went on a quick 6-0 spurt with jumpers from junior Toni Suler and Kornfeld and then a post-up bucket by Suler to get within a point, 47-46.

Ursinus forced a turnover then turned it over on their possession as Albright's Abby Gaffney collected the steal and was fouled. Gaffney made one of two freebies for the final margin.

Junior Lydia Konstanzer collected a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Ursinus. Sophomore Aliyah Stevens padded the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds, five steals and three blocks. Kornfeld joined the double-figure club with 10 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Suler contributed six points with four rebounds and three blocks in a reserve role.

Albright (6-8) was led by Lauren Killion's game-high 13 points, 10 of which came in the first half. Killion hit on all three of her shots from beyond the arc.

The teams couldn't break away from each other from the opening tip. Ursinus led 12-11 after the first quarter, and Albright was up 25-23 at the break and held a 35-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Points were tough to come by as shooting percentages were low and turnover rates were high.

The Lions shot 18-of-50 (36%) from the field, 4-of-11 (36.4%) from deep and 8-of-15 (53.3%) from the free throw line. The Bears also struggled, going 20-of-62 (32.3%) overall, 0-of-7 (0%) from beyond, and just 6-of-16 (37.5%) from the charity stripe.

Albright committed 22 turnovers to the Bears' 15. Ursinus led on the glass with five more total rebounds (39-34) and eight more offensive caroms (15-7).

The Bears travel to Immaculata for another non-conference contest on Thursday at 6 p.m.
