COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The sophomore duo of Aliyah Stephens and Maya Kornfeld combined for 46 points to lead the Ursinus College women's basketball team past Dickinson, 66-54, in Centennial Conference action at Helfferich Hall.

Stephens had a career day with a personal-high 25 points on an efficient 10-of-13 shooting effort. She also tacked on 10 rebounds for her second double-double as a Bear. Kornfeld scored a career-high 21 points, 11 coming from the charity stripe where she missed just one of her 12 attempts. The point guard went 5-of-8 from the field.

Ursinus (4-3, 2-2) used a 16-8 third frame advantage to overcome a three-point deficit (32-29) at halftime. Dickinson stymied the Bears in the second stanza, limiting the hosts to just nine points.

A 10-0 Bear run to open the third quarter erased the second-quarter funk. Ursinus locked down on defense, holding Dickinson scoreless for almost five minutes. To start the streak, Stephens made a layup. Kornfeld drained a long jumper from the top of the key after a Dickinson turnover to get the Bears ahead to stay at 33-32.

Stephens put back her own miss then stole a pass and added a bucket on the fast break. Sophomore Marisa Morano then made a jumper to cap off the run and make it 39-32.

Ursinus took a 45-40 lead into the fourth quarter. Things got tighter when Dickinson's Briana Breskin nailed a triple to get the Red Devils to within two points at 45-43, but the Bears responded with a 9-0 run to pull away from the Red Devils with an 11-point lead at 54-43.

Early on, Dickinson (2-4, 0-3) traded baskets with Ursinus in a high-scoring first quarter. Dickinson's leading scorer, Kate Deutsch, scored 10 of her 14 points in the first frame. Ursinus shut down Deutsch, who came into the game the second-leading scorer in the conference, for the remaining three quarters of play. Deutsch made just one field goal after a solid first quarter.

The Red Devils' leading scorer was reserve Emily Paladino, who ended the day with 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting.

Off the Bears' bench, junior Toni Suler added seven points and eight rebounds and blocked a season-high five shots.

Ursinus shot 22-of-52 (42.3%) from the field - 1-of-4 (25%) from 3-point range – and a phenomenal 21-of-27 (77.8%) from the free-throw line. Dickinson was held to 21-of-61 (34.4%) overall, 7-of-26 (26.9%) from deep and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.

The Bears committed 11 turnovers to the Red Devils' 14 miscues.

The Bears travel to Washington College Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
