Men's XC Finishes Strong at Mideast Regional

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's cross country team continued the resurgence of recent years by placing 23rd at the NCAA Mideast Regional championship on Saturday.

On the heels of placing a team-record 19th at last year's regional meet, the Bears made it three seasons in a row with a top-25 performance.

Marcos Maciel was one of two Bears to finish in the top-100 in a massive field of more than 350 to complete the 8-kilometer course at Lehigh University. The sophomore placed 78th in a time of 26:31.6, just ahead of James McDaid, who landed 89th in 26:42.7. It was the third career top-100 finish for McDaid, who took 78th as a sophomore and 48th a year ago.

Kyle Berardi was the third Ursinus runner across the line, finishing 139th overall in a time of 27:21.8. Daniel Powell edged his previous personal best by a single tenth of a second to take 153rd (27:33.3), with John DeLia right behind at 27:39.8 (158th).

Edward Martinez (28:07.0, 186th) and Steve Wilkins (28:47.9, 222nd) polished off the Bears' top seven for the day.
