Men's XC Lights Up Twilight Meet

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College cross country teams lit up the night with some sensational times at the fifth annual Fall Twilight meet last week.

A bevy of Bear runners moved up – or onto – the program's prized "Lucky 13 List," which sixth-year head coach Carl Blickle instituted at the beginning of his tenure and encapsulates the 3200-meter time trial at the Twilight meet.

Marcos Maciel was the individual champion on the men's side with a time of 9:36.28, which ranks second on the all-time charts. James McDaid, who holds the current record of 9:28.19 from 2017, was second at 9:39.15.

John DeLia ascended to third on the list with a 9:39.30, while Ed Martinez elevated into fifth at 9:42.34. Colin McCarty finished right behind Martinez at 9:42.81, good for seventh all-time.

Kyle Berardi's 9:57.03 places him 10th all-time, and Daniel Powell also got on the list for the first time with a 10:01.28 (13th), just ahead of Steve Wilkins' 10:01.77. Jesse Wun (10:05.25) and Nate Raffier (11:16.66) also competed.

All but McDaid (season best) and Wilkins (college best) ran personal bests.

Several Bears also competed in the open 1-mile run, won by former Division III national champion Dylan Gearinger of Haverford in 4:26.14. Payton Stanziani placed third in a personal-best 4:36.80, with Andre Kelly (PR 4:43.45) in fifth and Dylan Simms (PR 4:45.39) in sixth. Brandon Slaboda logged a personal-best 4:59.46.

Friday night's race marked the fifth edition of the annual event, which serves as a tune-up for the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship and presents an opportunity for the current team to compete against alumni in a fun atmosphere.
