Men's XC Dominates at PSU-Abington Invitational

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa. – Ed Martinez led a 2-3-4 finish for the Ursinus College men's cross country team as the Bears ran away with the overall championship at the Penn State Abington Invitational on Saturday.

The top seven runners all finished inside the first 13 for the Bears, who took home their third invitational title in as many seasons.

Martinez notched a big PR with a time of 28:36.2 on the 8-kilometer course at Lorimer Park, outdoing his previous best from last year's conference championship by 20 seconds.

Marcos Maciel was next across the line in third place with a mark of 28:54.9, and John DeLia's 28:58.2 was good for fourth.

Steve Wilkins placed seventh at 29:26.5 in his 8k debut, with Daniel Powell close behind at a collegiate-best 29:37.2 (9th).

Kyle Berardi took 13th at 30:07.00, and Colin McCarty was 14th with a PR 30:20.2. Caleb Torres (30:40.2) placed 16th, and Jesse Wun was 22nd (31:08.1). Nate Raffier rounded out the Bears' squad at 34:38.1.

Ursinus is next in action at Stockton's Osprey Invitational on Saturday, September 21.
