MEDIA, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's cross country team produced three top-10 finishers and nearly half of the top 21 overall, coming up just shy of three-peating as team champions at the season-opening Bryn Mawr Invitational.

The Bears accumulated 39 total places, just three more than an Eastern squad that claimed the individual champion and three of the first four runners across the line at Rose Tree Park.

James McDaid saw his own bid for a third straight crown land a little short as he completed the 5-kilometer course about 10 seconds behind Eastern's Kenny Deloff with a mark of 17:17.27.

Marcos Maciel was fifth overall at 17:46.15, about 80 seconds better than last year's mark. Freshman Steve Wilkins was terrific in his debut, taking seventh with a time of 17:57.04.

John DeLia (18:03.45) and John Haase (18:05.67) were neck and neck in the 12^th and 13^th spots, respectively, while Daniel Powell was 15^th at 18:13.14.

Ed Martinez took 18^th place at 18:31.70, with Jesse Wun (18:38.34) and Kyle Berardi (18:40.68) finishing with a few steps of each other at 20^th and 21^st.

Caleb Torres (18:55.83) and Colin McCarty (18:57.85) also went nearly step for step, with Brandon Slaboda (19:37.75) and Nate Raffier (20:46.44) rounding out the Bears' contingent.

Ursinus has two weeks off before competing in the Penn State Abington Invitational.
