Men's XC Places 15th at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – James McDaid landed just outside the top 10 in a field of nearly 300 at the Paul Short Run on Saturday as the Ursinus College men's cross country team took 15th place.

McDaid's time of 26:42, a pace of 5:23, put him in 11th in a third straight excellent performance to open the season. McDaid won the Bryn Mawr Invitational and was 13th at the Division II/III Challenge.

Junior John Haase tallied a new personal best by a few seconds with a 27:46, placing him 50th overall.

Freshman Marcos Maciel turned in by far the best race of his young career, shaving a full two minutes off his previous 8-kilometer low and crossing the finish line in 28:31 to land just inside the top 100 (90th).

Senior Andrew Voyack (29:17) and junior Logan Mazullo (29:21) were neck and neck as the fourth and fifth Ursinus entrants to complete the course.

Sophomore Kyle Berardi clocked a 29:52, and rookie Logan Yoquinto marked a 29:55 in his collegiate debut.

The men's cross country team is next in action at the Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday, October 13.
