Men's T&F Hosts Frank Colden Invite

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's track and field team capped the home portion of its indoor schedule with a series of strong performances at the annual Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday.

The Bears had three finalists between the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles. Octavious Carter was runner-up in the 60 with a 7.07, while Aviv Hogan Appell moved up to sixth in the Centennial Conference with a 7.23 to place ninth. Daniel Tabor seized a PR at 7.49, and Max Gadsden was just off his top pace with a 7.57. Tabor also finished 10th in the triple jump (38-8.25).

Daniel Maloney, a week removed from securing the fastest 60 hurdles time in the conference, placed third in the prelims with an 8.68 and landed in fifth in the final heat at 8.74.

Andre Kelly finished fourth in the 800 with a 2:00.29. James McDaid recorded a season-best 2:10.17, and Brandon Slaboda was close behind with a PR 2:10.74.

Kelly and Carter were part of the second-place 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 3:31.42 alongside Tyler Reilly and Bradley Duncan-Taylor, who jumped into eighth in the CC in the 200 (23.59).

Payton Stanziani placed sixth in the 400 (52.38), where Reilly made his season debut in 53.22.

Marcos Maciel finished fourth in the 3000 meters (9:09.18). Kyle Berardi led a strong showing in the 5000, landing in seventh (16:13.62); Daniel Powell scored a new PR (16:22.60) and Steve Wilkins made his 5k debut (16:45.89).

Ed Martinez placed 10th in the mile (4:37.12), where Colin McCarty grabbed a PR 4:40.14 and Dylan Simms made his debut in the event (4:48.06).

Griffin McMann headed up a typically impressive effort in the shot put, placing third with a 48-6.75. Nick Galbraith improved his previous PR by nearly a foot to finish fourth (45-1.50). Matthew Brynes (39-8.75), George Psaradakis (37-9.50), Harrison Bonanny (37-4.00), Austin Bittenbender (36-9.00), Isaiah Battle (35-6.00), and Michael Boone (31-6.75) also competed, with Boone adding over two feet to his former best.

Ken Sprankle marked a massive PR in the pole vault, moving into a tie for eighth in the CC with a 12-5.50.

Brody Johnson competed in the pentathlon, grabbing PRs in the 1000 (3:05.75) and high jump (5-1.00).

The Bears are in action next weekend at Boston University's Valentine Invitational.
