Men's T&F Competes at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – A small traveling party returned with a few personal bests as the Ursinus College men's track and field team took part in a tri-meet at Haverford on Thursday.

Jose Morales was one of the more active Bears, competing in a trio of events against athletes from Widener and the host Fords. Morales won the 60-meter dash with a PR 7.33, moving into a tie for ninth on the Centennial Conference performance list, and shattered his previous standard with a 23.72 in the 200, which places him just outside the top-10.

Morales also represented Ursinus as part of a large shot put contingent led by Matthew Byrnes, whose 12.11-meter mark was good for first place. Isaiah Battle notched a new career best and moved into ninth in the conference with a toss of 11.62 meters, with Morales close behind at 11.46 in his shot put debut. Harrison Bonanny (10.30 meters) and Tim Holzapfel (10.21) competed for the Bears, and Michael Boone recorded a season-best 8.93 meters.

Tyree Williams-Jackson won the long jump at 5.87 meters.

Max Gadsden joined Morales in the 60-meter dash and put up a PR of his own at 7.56 seconds.

Daniel Powell's 2:21.49 in the 800 was a PR by nearly five seconds. Steve Wilkins, who completed that event in 2:26.73, was just in front of Powell in the mile with a time of 4:55.33.

The Bears head to the world-famous Armory in New York City on Friday for the NYU Division III Invitational.
