COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – A delay, venue change, and day change was not near enough to stop the Ursinus men's tennis team from earning a dramatic 5-4 win over Gettysburg in Centennial Conference action during the early hours of Sunday morning at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.

With the win, the Bears improved to 5-2 overall behind their fourth-straight win and 1-1 in Centennial Conference play. Meanwhile, the Bullets fell to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in Centennial action.

The Bears were forced inside to the Floy Lewis Bakes Center due to the wet courts at Perkiomen Valley High School and started around 10 p.m. on just three courts after completion of the women's match. Ursinus opened doubles action strong by winning two of the first three matches to grab the lead into singles play. The No. 3 singles duo of sophomore Ethan Yu and junior Noah Mandel got Ursinus on the board with an 8-2 triumph over Zach Lachance and Hayden Strittmatter. Sophomores Lars Jespersen and Will Oberholtzer extended the lead at the No. 1 position by outlasting Alex Kagan and Michael Zayneh 8-7 in a tiebreaker. Sophomores Darby Rogers and Rob Ritchie were downed in the final doubles match by Michael Fellman and Matt Rau during another tiebreaker of 8-7.

Gettysburg came storming back to start singles as they won the first three matches to put themselves in a position to clinch the match by winning one of the last three matches. Oberholtzer fell 3-6, 1-6 to Fellman at No. 2 singles and Jespersen was defeated 3-6. 1-6 Kagan at the No. 1 position. Zayneh downed Ritchie at No. 3 singles 2-6, 6-3, (10-6) to set up the final three matches. Rogers started the Bears rally with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Rau at the No. 4 spot and Mandel edged Lachance 6-3, 6-4 to set the stage for a winner-take-all in No. 6 singles. Yu dug deep and completed the Bears comeback with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Levy.

Ursinus returns to action on Friday, April 1st as they will take on Wilkes in non-conference action at 3:30 p.m.
