Kirk Named to USILA Team of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Already basking in the glow of leading the Ursinus College men's lacrosse team to its first Centennial Conference championship, senior goalie Nick Kirk was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Team of the Week.

Kirk was a brick wall over the course of two scintillating victories on the road against nationally ranked opponents in the Centennial Conference tournament, stopping 39 of the 58 shots he faced for a robust .672 save percentage.

Kirk finished with 17 saves as the Bears pulled out a 12-11 thriller in the semifinals at Franklin & Marshall, then came back with a legendary effort in the title game at Gettysburg. The senior racked up 22 saves, 15 of them in the second half, to establish a championship game record and propel Ursinus to its first win against Gettysburg and its inaugural CC crown.

Hitting his stride when most needed, Kirk has been nothing short of sensational down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs. He has averaged 16.7 saves over his last six games, recording at least 13 in each contest after reaching that mark just once in the first nine.

A two-time Team of the Week honoree, Kirk will try to continue his red-hot play when the Bears host Springfield on Wednesday in an NCAA Tournament second-round clash.
