DeSimone Named CC Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus College men's lacrosse senior Peter DeSimone was named Centennial Conference player of the week.

DeSimone was a driving force behind the Bears' 13-9 defeat of 17th-ranked Stevenson, matching his own program record with six assists and adding a pair of goals. The senior attack equaled his career high with eight points and continued his ascension up the program's all-time charts; he currently ranks fourth in goals (85), sixth in points (131), and seventh in assists (46).

DeSimone was especially effective in crunch time, accounting for four consecutive goals during a run of six unanswered markers over the final 8:46. He assisted on both the game-tying and go-ahead scores before tacking on an insurance tally of his own for good measure. DeSimone also picked up a team-leading five ground balls.

DeSimone joined junior Bobby McClure (five goals, one assist) and sophomore Hakan Atillasoy (three goals, one assist) at the head of a potent offensive attack, while senior goalie Nick Kirk piled up 16 saves to keep the Mustangs off the board for the final 20 minutes and change.

A 2018 preseason All-American, DeSimone won his third career weekly award from the CC; he picked up the honor in back-to-back weeks as a freshman.

The Bears, who rejoined the national rankings this week, travel to Mary Washington for a non-conference contest on Saturday.
