Men's Lacrosse Enters National Rankings

LOUISVILLE, KY. – The Ursinus College men's lacrosse team impressive victory at Stevenson in the season opener has the nation taking notice.

The Bears, voted eighth in the Centennial Conference preseason poll and coming off a 3-11 campaign, jumped into the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)'s Division III coaches poll. Ursinus received 27 votes to join the national rankings at No. 20.

Ursinus is one four CC squads to appear in this week's poll, joining Gettysburg (No. 6), Dickinson (No. 10), and Franklin & Marshall (No. 19); Washington College is receiving votes.

The Bears are back among the nation's top-20 for the first time since the last week of the 2017 season, and their 13-9 triumph at then-No. 17 Stevenson was the team's first on the road against a ranked foe since 2015.

Senior attack Peter DeSimone paired two goals with a program record-tying six assists, junior Bobby McClure tacked on five goals and an assist, and senior keeper Nick Kirk racked up 16 saves for Ursinus to give head coach Gary Mercadante a massive result in his debut.

The men's lacrosse team is back in action on Saturday, when the Bears travel to take on Mary Washington. The home opener is next Wednesday against No. 18 Cortland.
