Men's Golf Finishes 7th at CC Championship

MACUNGIE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team wrapped up the 2017-18 campaign with a seventh-place finish at the Centennial Conference championship.

The Bears were remarkably consistent throughout the weekend at Brookside Country Club, totaling 1024 strokes (339-344-341) with no more than a five-stroke variance from one round to the next.

Franklin & Marshall picked up another conference crown with a three-day 890, 17 strokes clear of second-place McDaniel (907). The Diplomats' Ben Mitchell ran away with medalist honors, posting a 1-under 212 to outpace two second-place finishers by nine shots.

Sophomore Ryan Hodgdon shot an 82 on Sunday for a 54-hole total of 253 (81-90-82), good for 31st place overall. Hodgdon posted birdies on a pair of par-5's, the 2nd and 13th holes, and added four pars on the front nine.

Senior Ryan Crawford was red-hot for much of the day, sitting at 2-over through the first 12 holes. That impressive stretch comprised eight pars and birdies on the par-4 6th hole as well as the 13th. He struggled down the stretch but still tied Hodgon for the best round of the day at 82 and placed 32nd at 255 (83-90-82).

Senior Max Schwartz finished the third round in 91 strokes for an overall total of 257 (87-79-91). He had a birdie on the par-5 4th hole in addition to three pars.

Sophomore Brian Barrett finished with a cumulative score of 264 (88-85-91) after tallying a 91 in the final round. He recovered from a rough start to birdie the 13th hole along with the par-4 15th.

Senior Matthew Sherman registered birdies on two of the first four holes, the 2nd and 4th, and finished the front nine in 4-over on the way to a third-round 86, his best of the weekend. Sherman finished the tournament in 271 strokes (93-92-86).
