Men's Golf 7th After CC 1st Round

MACUNGIE, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team sits in seventh place after the first day of play at the Centennial Conference championship.

The Bears finished the Brookside Country Club course in 339 strokes. Franklin & Marshall leads the pack at 286, followed by McDaniel and Dickinson at 299, Swarthmore at 301, Gettysburg at 305, and Muhlenberg at 308.

F&M's Ben Mitchell shot a 4-under 67 and will take a four-stroke lead over Dickinson's Charlie Zane into Saturday's second round.

Sophomore Ryan Hodgdon was the top performer for Ursinus, carding an 81 for 29th place. Hodgdon was only three shots over par on the back nine holes, which included four pars and a birdie on the par-3 12th hole.

Senior Ryan Crawford was also in a rhythm on the back nine, overcoming a 46 on the front to post a 2-over 37 on the back en route to an 83. He played hole 10-13 in 2-under, notching birdies on the par-4 11th and par-5 13th.

Senior Max Schwartz shot an 87 with a birdie on the par-5 2nd hole in addition to six pars. Sophomore Brian Barrett posted an 88, including a birdie on the par-4 9th hole and seven pars in the first 12 holes.

Senior Matthew Sherman posted two pars on the back nine and finished in 93 shots.
