Steiner Shines in Men's Golf's Spring Invite

ELVERSON, Pa. – Sophomore Noah Steiner enjoyed by far the best round of his collegiate career as the Ursinus College men's golf team hosted a 13-team field at its annual spring invitational at Stonewall North.

Steiner fired an 8-over 78 to land his first sub-80 round and eclipse his previous season best by nine strokes for the Bears, who scored 333 to place eighth.

Cabrini claimed the team crown with an even 300, with Gettysburg (306) and Dickinson (308) not far behind. Gettysburg's Danny Harcourt earned the individual title, edging out Albright's Nick Hand and Cabrini's David Gall in a three-way tie at 72.

Steiner logged a career-best three birdies on the day, going under on all three par-5 holes – the 3rd, the 8th, and the 18th – en route to finishing in a tie for 16th overall in a field of 70 golfers and earning the first top-20 placing of his career. He had four pars and shot an even 35 on the front nine.

Junior Ryan Crawford shot an 80 to tie for 24th place. It was the second 80 of the season for Crawford, who had a 2 on the par-3 2nd hole.

Freshman Ryan Hodgdon carded an 82 for the Bears, which included a birdie on the 3rd, and fellow rookie Brian Barrett scored 85.

Senior Anthony Barbine birdied the 9th and 12th holes on the way to an 86, and freshman Jack Bagnell was right behind at 87.

Junior Matthew Sherman registered a career-low 92, and sophomore Bennett Collins signed for a 93.

The men's golf team tunes up for the Centennial Conference Championship with a round at the Arcadia Knight Invitational on Monday, April 17.
