Men's Golf 5th at LVC Dutchmen Invite

LEBANON, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's golf team put forth a strong effort at the LVC Dutchmen Spring Invitational on Monday, placing fifth in a field of 12 with a spring-best 329.

Lebanon Valley's Blue squad took advantage of the friendly confines of Lebanon Country Club, earning the team title with a 307, nine shots better than runner-up Penn State Berks (316). Dickinson (321) was third, followed closely by Hood (326) and Ursinus to round out the top five.

The Bears placed in the top five of the team standings for the fourth time in seven tournaments.

Lebanon Valley's Thomas Moran captured individual medalist honors with a 1-under 71 on the 6562-yard course.

Freshman Ryan Hodgdon turned in another impressive outing for the Bears, scoring an 8-over 80 to land in a five-way tie for 11th place overall among 61 golfers. The rookie has shot 80 or better in six of his first nine collegiate rounds, all of which have featured a score of 85 or lower. Hodgdon registered his fifth top-20 finish of the season, just missing out on his first career top-10.

Junior Ryan Crawford, sophomore Bennett Collins, and freshman Brian Barrett all shot 83 to tie for 21st overall. Collins shattered his previous season best by nine strokes in his first action of the spring, while Barrett matched his second-best total of the campaign.

Senior Anthony Barbine carded an 87 in his spring debut, his second-lowest tally of the year.

The men's golf team hosts its annual spring Invitational at Stonewall's North Course on Tuesday, April 11.
