Men's Golf Takes 6th at Two-Day Invitational

ELKTON, Md. – The Ursinus College men's golf team divided into two units to face a strong field at the fall edition of the annual Revolutionary Collegiate Classic this weekend. The Bears' top squad, the Gold Team, finished sixth with a two-day team tally of 668.

Chestnut Hill defended its team crown in a tight race to the finish, edging out Swarthmore by three strokes with a final score of 615. Wesley (620) was two strokes behind the second-place Garnet, with Rosemont (624) lurking in fourth. Stevens (635) was fifth, followed by Ursinus Gold (668), Ursinus Black (707), and Neumann (728).

Wesley's Dylan Chessher dominated the 6730-yard course at Patriots Glen National Golf Club, following Saturday's 69 with a 71 on Sunday to post a 4-under 140 for the tournament. That was 11 strokes clear of a trio of golfers in second; Chestnut Hill's Anthony Hoffman won multiple tiebreakers over Swarthmore's Dan Altieri and Wesley's Sean Creel to claim the runner-up title.

Freshman Ryan Hodgdon was the top performer for the Bears, carding a two-day tally of 163 (78-85) to place inside the top 20. Hodgdon's first-round 78 was the best round of his brief collegiate career.

Junior Lamar Saxon shot a combined score of 168 (75-93), and sophomore Ryan Crawford was right behind with a 170 (86-84). Freshman Brian Barrett carded a 172 (87-85), and fellow rookie Jack Bagnell finished with a 180 (92-88) to round out the Ursinus Gold contingent.

Senior Anthony Barbine paced the Ursinus Black group with a 172 (88-84), and sophomore Noah Steiner was right on his heels after a 173 (87-86) that included his two best rounds of the season on consecutive days.

Junior Max Schwartz followed up his best round of the year (82) on Saturday with a 93 on Sunday to post a 175, while sophomore Bennett Collins (97-92—189) and junior Matthew Sherman (95-95—190) closed out the Bears' party.

The golf teams close out their fall season at the Eastern Invitational on Wednesday, October 19.
