Hughes, McTamney Earn All-CC Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus' Ryan Hughes and Ryan McTamney were each named second team All-Centennial Conference as the league announced its official all-conference men's basketball team Tuesday afternoon.

Hughes enjoyed a sensational sophomore season, leading the conference in scoring at 18.2 points per game while ranking sixth at 6.3 rebounds per contest. He also tops the CC with 113 made free throws and sits second in 3-point percentage (43.3), fourth in total field goals (150), and seventh in assists (74). Hughes was second on the team in assists, handing out 3.0 per game.

Hughes scored at least 20 points in 12 games for the Bears, posting three double-doubles in the process. He was held to single digits just twice and performed well against top competition, dropping 29 points on CC champion Johns Hopkins, 28 against MAC Commonwealth champ Lycoming, and 22 at top-ranked Swarthmore.

McTamney ended his career with a second consecutive second team All-CC certificate nod. The Bears' captain ranks second in the conference at 18.0 points per game and fourth at 6.8 rebounds per game; he shot 48.9 percent overall and 34.7 percent from 3-point range. McTamney racked up seven double-doubles, including five in the final seven games as Ursinus battled for the final playoff spot.

McTamney, who scored in double figures in all but two games and had six games with 25 points or more, finished eighth on the all-time scoring list with 1,380 career points.

Hughes and McTamney made history as the first pair of teammates to lead the Centennial in scoring average.
