BALTIMORE, Md. – The Ursinus College men's basketball team stuck with red-hot Johns Hopkins for a half, but a dismal 6 of 32 effort (18.8 percent) after intermission allowed the Blue Jays to run away with a 76-54 Centennial Conference victory.

Sophomore forward Remi Janicot notched his second double-double in the last three games with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Ursinus (6-9, 2-6), which led 9-2 and 12-6 early before Johns Hopkins (8-7, 5-3) put its foot on the gas. The Blue Jays scored 19 consecutive points to go in front, 25-12, and never trailed again, eventually leading by as much as 22 in winning for the fourth time in five outings.

Four Blue Jays scored in double figures, led by Ryan Curran, who finished with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Sam Gordon added 13 points and eight boards, while Gene Williams scored 11 and Matt Billups just missed a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds for Johns Hopkins, which completed its third straight season sweep of the Bears.

Ursinus got off to a fast start, using two 3-pointers from freshman guard Eric Williams to score nine of the game's first 11 points. The Bears still led by six before a five-minute drought led to a Blue Jay barrage, the home side uncorking a 19-0 spurt to put the Bears in the rearview mirror. Ursinus, however, made a push late in the opening stanza, pulling to within 33-28 at the break after Janicot buried a triple.

Sophomore forward Joseph LoStracco opened the second half with a bucket to cut the deficit to three, but Billups scored inside and Gordon converted a three-point play to push the margin back to eight. Another three-point play by Gordon stretched the bulge back to double digits at 46-35, at the 15-minute mark and the Blue Jays cruised from there.

Eric Williams, the Centennial Conference leader in 3-pointers made, hit four more and finished with 14 for the Bears. Senior guard Malik Draper collected nine points, and LoStracco paired eight points with a game-high 11 rebounds.

Johns Hopkins committed only eight turnovers and forced Ursinus into 17, which the Blue Jays converted into 16 points. The home side enjoyed a 24-14 edge in the paint and a 23-5 surplus in bench points.
