Men's Basketball falls to Swarthmore, 63-60

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Despite holding Swarthmore to just one basket in the final 6:04, Ursinus saw the host Garnet (6-14, 3-10 Centennial) hit four foul shots in the final 13 seconds of the game in a 63-60 win over the Bears (3-17, 1-12 Centennial) on Thursday night in men's basketball play.

Ursinus nearly pulled off the comeback, rallying from a 15-point second half deficit (49-34) to take the lead at 60-59 with 1:42 left on a three-pointer by senior forward Ryan Adams. Adams finished with a team-high 15 points, with senior guard Jesse Krasna scoring 11 and senior guard Pat Vasturia adding in ten.

Joe Keedy sank the last four foul shots for Swarthmore, finishing with ten points. The Garnet finished the game a perfect 14-for-14 from the foul line and were a spotless 10-for-10 in the second half. Jay Kober finished the game with a high of 18 points

In a game that saw eight ties and eight lead changes, both teams started off slow. Ursinus was able to take an early 18-15 lead with 10:29 left on a three-pointer by Vasturia. From there, Swarthmore scored the next six points to take a 21-18 lead with 7:40 left on a three-pointer by Kober.

Swarthmore would maintain the first half lead, going up by as much as nine at 32-23 as the Bears could only muster one field goal in the final 5:43.

Keedy finished with a game-high 13 rebounds, while sophomore guard Mark Wonderling, Adams and sophomore guard Malik Draper each had five boards for the Bears.

Ursinus heads to Dickinson on Saturday.
