Men's Basketball eliminated from playoff race by Muhlenberg, 82-53

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College men's basketball team saw the 2010-11 season come to a close on Saturday via a 82-53 decision at Muhlenberg. The loss knocked Ursinus out of the fifth and final playoff spot, which went to Haverford who will travel to McDaniel on Saturday. Muhlenberg needed a Haverford loss to advance to the tournament, but, the Fords beat Swarthmore earlier in the day.

Muhlenberg (13-12, 9-9 Centennial) seemed to hit every shot the Mules took in the first half, as turned a three-point first half lead into a 14-point advantage from which Ursinus was never able to recover. Muhlenberg was led by junior forward Spencer Liddic's game-high 19 points, with senior guard Evan Tozer scoring 16 points including four three-pointers. The Mules finished the game shooting 57.1 percent from the field (28-for-49) and 42.1 percent from behind the three-point line (9-for-21)

For Ursinus (12-13, 9-9 Centennial), senior forward T.J. Jones (Verona, N.J/Verona) scored a team-high 11 points in his final game in an Ursinus uniform. Senior guard Matt Hilton (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) finished his career with seven points. Both Hilton and Jones were members of the Ursinus basketball team that advanced to the NCAA Division III Semifinals during the 2007-08 season. Hilton finished the season shooting 90.1 percent (100-111) from the foul line.

Sophomore forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), playing in front of his hometown crowd for the first time, had nine points and finished the year shooting 63.6 percent (154-for-242) from the field and had 490 points in his sophomore campaign.
