Men's Basketball continues push with 71-55 win over Johns Hopkins

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus got 31 points from sophomore forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) as the Bears (11-12, 8-8 Centennial) evened out their Centennial mark with a 71-55 win over Johns Hopkins (6-17, 4-12 Centennial) on Saturday.

The Bears also got 12 points from senior guard Matt Hilton (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) and 11 points from freshman point guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) while pulling into at least a three-way tied with Muhlenberg and Haverford in the race for the fifth and final playoff spot with two games left. The Bears have now won four out of their last five.

For Johns Hopkins, the Blue Jays got 12 points from senior John Alberici and 11 points from sophomore Mike Rhodes.

Ursinus, who led 33-30 on a halftime buzzer three-pointer by Hilton, started the second half on a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach. Ursinus enjoyed as much as a 20-point lead in the second half.

The Bears had a 37-24 lead on the glass, with sophomore forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) picking up a game-high six.

Ursinus will host Washington on Wednesday night.
