Men's Basketball falls late in battle with Albright, 73-69

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Albright rallied from a ten-point halftime deficit as the Lions (8-4) handed Ursinus (3-8) a 73-69 loss in the opening round of the Casa Mia Tournament hosted by DeSales University on Sunday evening.

Ursinus will face New York Tech on Monday afternoon at 5, as the Lions will advance to play host DeSales in the championship on Monday.

For the Bears, sophomore forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) had a team-high 24 points on 11-for-16 shooting, with senior guard Matt Hilton (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) picking up 19 points. Freshman point guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) had eight points and eight assists for Ursinus.

For Albright, Zac Shaeffer had 26 points, with Matt Ashcroft adding 14 points.

Ursinus held Albright to without a field goal over the final 6:20 of the first half, propelling out to a 34-24 lead via a 15-0 run. During that run, Ward had ten of the 15 points.

After briefly giving up the lead in the second half, Ursinus went up by five with 6:54 left on a tip-in by freshman guard Ryan Adams (White Plains, N.Y./The Hun School). The Lions scored the last four points of the game, all on foul shots in the last 43 seconds to take the win.

Ursinus had a 30-28 lead on the glass, with sophomore forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) grabbing eight.
