Three Former Ursinus Gymnasts Inducted into NCGA Hall of Fame

ITHACA, N.Y. – Three former Ursinus Gymnasts were honored as inductees to The National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Hall of Fame this past weekend. Brianna Morrissey and Christina Ng-Watson were inducted as a part of the six-member Class of 2022. Kristen Grimmel was also recognized as a member of the 2020 class that did not receive their awards and recognition due to the cancellation of the 2020 Championship event.

 

The class was honored in a ceremony held this past Friday night prior to the NCGA National Championship meet at Ithaca College. Morrissey and Ng-Watson join Jordan Christiano Mihalik of SUNY Brockport, Sophia Harrison Suarez of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Kelly Stevison Harding of Ithaca College, and Julia Zimmerman Sharpe of Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the 2022 class.

 

Morrissey was a six-time All-American with two for all-around, two on the floor, and two on the vault. She capped her decorated Ursinus Gymnastics career by winning the national championships in the floor exercise during the 2007 season. She also served as her team captain in 2007 & 2008, was a member of SAAC and Ursinus College's Female athlete of the year in 2008. Morrissey received a bachelor's degree in Media & Communication with a minor in Business Administration & Sociology.

 

Ng-Watson was a two-time ECAC beam champion. A two-time All-American in the all-around, a two-time All-American on Beam, an Academic All-American, and Captain and SAAC president in 2002. She was inducted into the Ursinus Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014 and earned a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science.

 

Grimmel, who was a member of the 2020 NCGA induction class, earned seven All-American honors with three coming in All-Around, two on the vault, two on the floor, and one on the beam. Grimmel was named ECAC Gymnast of the Year in 2003 after becoming the ECAC All-Around and Vault Champion. She has her name all over the Bears career record books as she holds records in Vault, Floor, and All-Around categories. She is a member of the most recent Ursinus Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2021.
