Gymnastics Records Multiple Standout Performances, Season-High on Bars at Towson

TOWSON, Md. – The Ursinus gymnastics team topped its previous season-best in the bars as they completed a successful tri-meet against Towson and West Virginia on Saturday evening. The team finished the meet with an overall score of 185.175.

 

The Bears recorded a season-best 45.475 on the uneven parallel bars, a 46.525 on the beam, 46.200 on the floor, and capped the night with a 46.975 on the vault.

 

Junior Alyssa DeLorme got the meet started for the Bears with a career-best performance on the bars behind a score of 9.625, topping her previous high mark of 9.6 set in 2020. Freshman Megan Matteucci followed DeLorme with a score of 9.125.

 

First-year Madison Zimmerman impressed yet again on the beam by registering a new season and career best mark of 9.800 to pace Ursinus. DeLorme continued her standout night by besting her career-high score on the beam by .125 with a 9.750. Senior Taylor Cusick finished third among the Bear gymnasts in the event with a 9.025 and classmate Kaylin Knapsack earned a 9.000.

 

Knapsack was brilliant on the floor as she led the Bears with a 9.700, her third time posting at least a 9.7 this season for the event. For the second-straight meet, junior Kasey Ricci established a new career-best on the floor as she recorded a 9.250. DeLorme posted a 9.225 and sophomore Carly Troilo turned in a strong collegiate debut in the floor exercise with a 9.175.

 

Cusick led a balanced showing on the vault with a team-high of 9.525. Sophomore Ashley Cromer established a new career-best in the event with a 9.375 and was matched by Troilo as well. Knapsack registered a 9.350 for the second-straight meet and was joined with the same score by senior Gabrielle Pitt. Zimmerman topped her season-best on the vault by rounding out the Bears with a 9.325.

 

The Bears have a quick turnaround for tomorrow, February 20th as they will now compete against Penn at 2 p.m. from the Palestra.
