Anderson Named Assistant Gymnastics Coach

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Head coach Kim Valenti is thrilled to announce the hiring of India Anderson as assistant coach of the Ursinus College gymnastics team.

"I am so excited to add India to our staff here in Collegeville," Valenti said. "She will bring a lot of fight and energy to the floor, just as she did at TU. Her experience as an NCAA Regional Individual Qualifier and member of a conference-winning program will be a huge asset to Ursinus College Gymnastics."

Anderson comes to Collegeville following an impressive career at Temple University, where she earned first team All-ECAC honors on the floor during the 2019 campaign. As a senior co-captain, Anderson was named ECAC specialist of the year and was instrumental in leading the Owls to their first ECAC championship in program history. She was also a three-time ECAC Specialist of the Week and qualified for the NCAA Athens Regional on the floor, scoring a 9.825. Coincidentally, her career-best floor score (9.9) came in a quad meet that also featured Ursinus.

Since graduating in June, Anderson has worked as a level 6-10 coach with Lake Murray Gymnastics, where she is responsible for implementing drills and spotting for all four events. She also spent time as a group leader for Temple's Elite Performance Camp, serving as a coach and trainer for levels 9-10 and conducting campus tours.

A native of South Carolina, Anderson was a two-time level 10 state champion (2014-15) and qualified for the 2015 JO National Championships. She also boasts international experience, having taken part in the Zelena Jama Open in Slovenia (2010) before competing at the Worthersee Cup in Austria (2013) and the Gym-Festival Trnava in Slovakia.

"I am super excited to be here and to be given the opportunity to work with such amazing women," Anderson said. "I look forward to learning from Kim and continuing to help her grow this program into something special!"

Anderson graduated from Temple in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
