Gymnastics Crowns Four All-Americans

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team closed the 2015-16 season on a high note, crowning four All-Americans at the NCGA individual championships hosted by SUNY-Brockport.

To be named an All-American, a gymnast must finish in the top 12 of each individual event, with the top six collecting first team honors.

Sophomore Amanda Palladino earned first team All-American status with a 9.8250 on the beam, which tied her for second overall.

Juniors Lauren Chavis and Jillian Casarella just made the cut on the bars, tying for 12th with a 9.650 to make the second team. It marked the second All-America nod for Casarella, who placed ninth on the beam at last year's meet. Classmate Vanessa Scalora landed just outside the running with a score of 9.625, tied for 14th overall.

Sophomore Monique Brooks was the Bears' fourth and final All-American after registering a 9.7750 to tie for fifth on the floor and earn a second consecutive laurel in that event.

Senior Kristina Steffenhagen was selected as an NCGA Academic All-American.
