Gymnastics Third at WCU Quad Meet

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team posted a score of 186.925 at this evening's quad meet at West Chester University, good for a third-place finish. The host Golden Rams took home the team title with a 190.875, followed by Temple (189.575), the Bears, and Centenary (177.900).

Junior Jillian Casarella registered the top mark of the night for Ursinus, a 9.700 on the beam that earned her a tie for fourth place. Senior Kristina Steffenhagen was hot on her heels with a 9.675, tied for sixth, while sophomore Katherine Norris landed in a tie for ninth with a 9.650.

Junior Lauren Chavis was the Bears' premier performer on the bars, her tally of 9.625 enough for a fourth-place showing. Casarella was seventh with a 9.525, with sophomores Alexandra Puryear (9.300) and Amanda Palladino (9.225) placing 12th and 15th, respectively.

Sophomore Monique Brooks was eighth on the vault with a score of 9.450, and she tied for sixth in the floor exercise after earning a 9.625. Steffenhagen was eighth on the floor with a mark of 9.600.

The Bears compiled a score of 48.000 on the beam, the second-highest mark of the night.

Ursinus returns to action on Saturday, February 6 at Temple.
