Bears Field Hockey Shutouts McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, MD – The No.14 Ursinus College field hockey team took care of business on Saturday, defeating Centennial Conference opponent McDaniel College 2-0.

The Bears (11-4,6-2), coming off a 1-0 win against Swarthmore, had to grind out another win after a long ride to Westminster. Jordan Ulsh and the defense were able to force their second consecutive shutout, holding the Green Terror to zero shots on the afternoon.

The Bears finished with advantages in shots 10-0 and penalty corners 15-0. Ursinus jumped on the board after they were awarded a penalty shot and Laura Rothschild found the net with 8 minutes remaining in the period. Mikayla Smith had a great game for the Green Terror as she collected 4 saves on the afternoon.

The Bears added another goal in the 4th period after a penalty corner was sent in front of the net and then found the stick of Sarah Symes for her second goal this season.

Ursinus will look to carry their momentum as they take on Haverford Wednesday at Snell Field.
