Field Hockey Bounces Back Against Owls

BRYN MAWR, Pa  -  The No. 11 Ursinus College field hockey team took to the road trying to bounce back from their 4-0 loss to John Hopkins last weekend. 

The Bears got out early putting 4 shots on net but were unable to capitalize in the first period. Goalie Jordan Ulsh stopped both shots that came her way keeping the game scoreless.

Early in the second period, Bryn Mawr came out strong with 4 penalty corners in the first 3 minutes of the second, but the Bears held strong defensively keeping Bryn Mawr scoreless. Ursinus got their legs under them and got the scoring going as Jamie Mayer scored her third goal of the season at 19:42 into the game assisted by Erin Mclhenny. 

The scoring did not stop there for the Bears, as a little over two minutes later Devon Carroll scored her 5th goal of the year assisted by first goal scorer Jamie Mayer. Then, just a little under two minutes later, Bryn Mawr countered with a goal of their own to make the game 2-1. The Bears did not sit back though as with just a little under two minutes left in the second period, Ellie Bruggeman scored her 7th goal of the year assisted by Carroll. 

With about 5 minutes left in the fourth period, Bryn Mawr connected to make it a one goal game 3-2 Ursinus. The Bears finished strong though as with 5 minutes left, Devon Carroll netted her second goal of the game assisted by Mayer to make the game out of reach for Bryn Mawr and secure a 4-2 win.The Bears finished with 12 shots on goal led by Jamie Mayer and Devon Carroll, each with 4 shots of their own. Carroll finished with 2 goals and 1 assist while Mayer finished with 1 goal and 2 assists for the high scoring Bears offense. 

The Bears will see Snell Field this Saturday for a conference matchup with the Dickinson Red Devils at 12:00 PM.
