Field Hockey downs Catholic, 3-2
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a matchup of two ranked teams, the Ursinus College field hockey team outlasted The Catholic University of America 3-2 on Tuesday night in field hockey play.
 
The Bears, ranked sixth, moved to 14-3 and scored a key regional win over the 18th-ranked Cardinals (11-5).
 
Senior Megan Keenan scored a goal and an assist, while seniors Ann Kopera and Samantha Macchio got on the board for the Bears.
 
Leading 3-0 in the 51st minute, Ursinus saw Catholic score back-to-back goals in the 55th and 56th minutes to crawl within one but held off for the win.
 
The lone goal in the first half came off the stick of Kopera at 24:29 when she scored on a point blank shot.
 
Keenan scored her first goal at 42:27 off of a penalty corner, followed by Macchio's goal from Keenan at 50:10.
 
Catholic got on the board when Lane Adams scored at 54:37, followed by a goal from Ellen Thorburn at 55:53.
 
For Ursinus, who owned a 21-7 shot advantage, senior Danielle DeSpirito made two saves.
 
Ursinus goes to Muhlenberg to close the regular season on Friday night.
